Once you're strapped in , you no longer are in control.....

Assalamualaikom /dear Earthlings ..fellow airline travelers

Once you buckled up onto the seat and the cabin door closes., you're no longer in command of your self. The "voice" over the intercom  take overs.  This is the "voice" speaking.... "please fasten your seat belt , remains seated and switched off all your electronic devices since this may be  interfering ...( = cut off your communications and contact with the outside world...you are now mine....ergh...evil laugh in the background )........" you follow the instruction of the "voice" without hesitation. Obediently. Without challenge.  (well it did say Please...you said ) . Literally the voice takes over everything... it barks out orders which you blindly follow, for your sake, willingly and sometimes with a (nervous) smile. No only you but the entire people in the plane..all 500+ if you're traveling on the Boeing A380. And occasionally you will frown upon your fellow passengers seated next to you who had not follow the voice's instructions as expediently as yourselves...psst .,ooi..you, neighbour.. fasten the seat belt ., remain seated, fold up the desk...bla..bla... uncivilised travelers., you frowned.

Sometimes the voice makes you feel like you are in control and have a choice. , but actually to think about it.. for the entire duration of the flight - be it just the short  45 short minutes hop or for the next 24 hours long intercontinental haul ,,the voice on the intercom commands you what to do. When to be seated or when you can walk the aisle by a flick of a "sign of a belt" on your overhead. Ting. You buckled up. Tense waiting for the turbulence that never came and the hot coffee that you requested never got served due to the "ting" sound and sign of belt lit up. You even have to cross your legs and hold tight refraining going to the toilet because the -ting -belt sign is still lit up., and rushed the moment it got switched off only to be frustrated by long queues already in front of you. The "voice" decides when and what you eat (even at unthinkable hours - dinner at 1 am  when you are sleepy just boarding after the long layover or breakfast at ungodly hours when you should still be sleeping ). You think you have pre-ordered your meal only to told .Sorry Sir.,your meal choice is very unusually popular on this flight and we are out of stock., can I interest you on noodles instead which is equally popular ...What to watch. The voice commands when to sleep by dimming the cabin's light and you drawing the blinds. All pretend it is already night when you know it was daylight 60 minutes ago when you boarded the plane...and you obliged...

Do you still think you are in control ?? I am okay with it and gives the  "voice" total trust to take me to my destination in comfort and safely...unless of course when something goes wrong.....that's another story.

Will share with you that experience later., and I hope never to endure that "event" again ever.

May you safely reach your destinations.

to post or Not to post but .....

Assalam /greetings . ..Earthlings. It' a struggle. A challenge. Its a challenge not whether to post photos or NOT to post but rather which one first....there are bundles. Some are snapshot -  "specials " just for family albums for family-cum close circle viewings in some distant future ., chuckling  on the photos  over hot tea and cucur pisang (banana fritters) , most are just shots of the places and its people .. hey-its-digital-so-we-can-just-delete them later  syndrome (but later never came) and rest falls into "so-so" category. I hope to share some of the better selections...

One disadvantage I found of digital photography ., you tend to take lot of photos  and after viewing them on screen , you almost never revisit them again unlike photo prints.  Lessons learnt: print  and display your photos. { good in lesson learnt tips but not as good in practicing them...}

Traveling has become a norm in many households  now mostly due to availability of cheap no-frill airlines . Me too..I have taken advantage of this new global business model and have some visits due to  work. Alas.. Mind you. I was from a generation that going on holiday on airlines were a privilege luxury only the rich can afford. I never even boarded a plane until my late teen , almost a young man,  and landed in a far away foreign strange alien land 24 hours later... a first time traveller landed on a culturally alien country - an undergraduate going into University  in UK some 30+ years ago...that's another story. So its only fitting that I filled my fist entry with some shots taken in UK especially LOndon...Enjoy
